Saddle soap is a formulation of soap used to clean leather. Formulated to be somewhat greasy, saddle soap provides mild conditioning to leather as it cleans. Saddle soap comes in two common forms, solid and liquid. Solid saddle soap is usually white or yellow and must be combined with water to enable its cleaning properties. Liquid saddle soap is generally already combined with water in appropriate proportions and can be used direclty out of the bottle.
Other products are available for cleaning purposes, including Lexol leather cleaner (the orange bottle), and carbolic soap.
